Congest 的名詞變化就是 congestion，我們常常在文章上看到的 traffic congeston 就是「交通堵塞」的意思，這個字比較少用在口語表達，大多是出現在文章中。

kerb (英式拼法) or curb (美式拼法) 指的是介於人行道(pavement)和柏油路(roadway)間、由路緣石(kerbstones)砌起來的部分，再往內一些就是所謂的 kerbside/curbside。

不可數名詞 Gridlock 是表示整個交通已經呈現出癱瘓的狀態，沒有任何一部車子可以移動、大塞車的狀況。我們也可以用形容詞 gridlocked 來形容某個地區交通嚴重壅塞。
