Commute 的意思就是 「通勤」。Commute 可以當動詞，例如: Jason commutes to London every day. (ジェイソンは毎日ロンドンに通勤しています。)， Commute 也可以當名詞，例如: It's at least an hour's commute to work from where I live. (私が住んでいる場所から職場までは、少なくとも 1 時間の通勤です。)

多益 Listening Part 1 (圖片題) 也許會出現下面這個句子：

Detour 是動詞也是名詞，意思就是 「繞路」，​透過例句來看他們各自的用法:

1.  To make/take a detour (名詞)

There was a big accident on the freeway. The police closed all the lanes. We had to take a detour. 

高速道路で大きな事故がありました。警察はすべての車線を封鎖した。私たちは迂回しなければなりませんでした。

Some taxi drivers make unscrupulous detours.

kerb (英式拼法) or curb (美式拼法) 指的是介於人行道(pavement)和柏油路(roadway)間、由路緣石(kerbstones)砌起來的部分，再往內一些就是所謂的 kerbside/curbside：
