對等連接詞
「對等連接詞」可以用來連接「對等地位的單字」、「對等地位的片語」以及「對等地位的子句」。對等連接詞只有七個：for 、and 、nor 、but、or、yet、so (記憶口訣：FANBOYS，為七個對等連接詞的第一個字母) 。
✦ 對等連接詞 FANBOYS : for 、and 、nor 、but、or、yet、so
and 表示「和、尚且」，可以連接對等的單字、片語、子句。
or 表示「或」，可以連接對等的單字、片語、子句。
but 表示「但是」，用來連接前後為對比意義的單字、片語或子句。
so 表示「所以」，用來連接兩個有因果關係的句子。
for 表示「因為」，用來連接兩個有因果關係的句子，通常前面會加上逗號。
yet 表示「但是、然而」，意思近似 but，用來連接前後為對比的子句，用來表示驚訝或出乎意料的事。
nor 表示「也不」，是一個否定字，所以放在 nor 後面的句子需要倒裝。
▶️ 連接對等地位的單字
Kevin is hard-working, responsible, proactive, and methodical. As for Jason, he is smart but lazy.
凱文工作勤奮、負責任、積極主動、有條不紊。至於傑森，他聰明但懶惰。

解題技巧：空格前後都是完整的句子，可推斷空格要填的是「連接詞」來連接兩個完整句，這題選項剛好都是對等連接詞，因此只能從句意去選答：Mr….phoned…company…about service, _____ the counterpart claimed that he didn’t bear…cost... 「某先生...致電公司...關於服務, _____ 公司說他沒有付錢...」，很明顯地，空格前後句意思是反意，可推斷空格要填的是 yet =but「但是」，因此答案選(A)。
翻譯：Mr. Moshifield 打電話給他的電信公司抱怨他們的服務，但公司卻說是因為他沒有準時付帳單。

解題技巧：空格前是介系詞 within「在...之內」，空格後是 just around the business district，可推斷空格要填的是 and「和」，or「或」，因此刪除不合句意的選項 (C) but also「還有」(請同學們記住 but also 前面一定會出現 not only，不只...還有...)；(D) both 通常會這樣用--- both A and B 「A和B兩者」，因此也刪除，而選項(A) as well 必須+ as 變成 as well as 才可以選，as well as = and 的意思，但 as well = also = too 通常出現於句尾，例句：Jeremy is good at Physics and Chemicals as well. (Jeremy 擅長物理也擅長化學)。
