M=Mary
W=Wendy
M: Good morning, this is the Aquaventure booking line. This is Mary speaking. How can I help you?
W: Hi, good morning. I’m ringing to book a water sports holiday for this summer.
M: Sure … let’s see. Yes, we have lots of places still available. Which location are you planning to visit?
W: The centre in Devon, if possible.
M: Yes, that’s no problem. We have places there too. I just need to fill out an application form for you before I make the booking.
W: Ok that’s fine.
M: Right, first, what’s your nationality?
W: I’m Australian.
M: Right. And your date of birth?
W: It’s the 21st of March 1996.
M: Thanks. And which dates shall I book you in for?
W: I was thinking I’d arrive on the 3rd of July and stay for 2 weeks.
M: Right. Just a second. Ok, now, unfortunately, that’s our busiest period as the school holidays start that week and our prices go up by 50% for those 2 weeks you’ve asked for. Is that ok?
W: Oh no! That’s a shame. Well, I’d rather not pay so much extra, to be honest. What about if I came the week before?
M: The 25th of June? Let me have a look for you. Right, what I’d recommend if you’d prefer to avoid the school holiday premium is to arrive on the 21st of June. That way there’s no additional cost.
W: Ok, well actually, that would be fine.
M: Fine. I’ll book you in then. And have you decided what kinds of water sports you’d like to do?
W: Yes, water skiing for sure. I can’t wait to do that.
M: Ok, and you have one more choice.
W: I’d like to try sailing but I’ve never done it before. Will that be a problem?
M: Ah, I’m afraid you have to have an introductory certificate to do the sailing course. What about kayaking?
W: Mmm, I’ve done that before. I was hoping to try something new. What about diving? Can I do that as a beginner?
M: Absolutely. I’ll put you down for that, then.
(Before you hear the rest of the conversation, you will have some time to look at questions 6 to 10 [20 seconds]. Now, listen and answer questions 6 to 10.)
M: Right. Now, shall I arrange for you to be picked up from the airport or will you make your own way here?
W: Umm, I was thinking about hiring a car at the airport but actually, since my flight arrives quite late it might be a better idea to book a pick-up.
M: Ok, I can do that. So, collection from which airport? Exeter?
W: Yes. That’s right. And I’m arriving from London City.
M: And you said you’re arriving on the 3rd of July?
W: Yes. Oh! No, it will be the 21st of June now.
M: Right, I forgot about that. And do you know what time your flight will be arriving?
W: Well, I haven’t booked it yet, obviously, but all the flight into Exeter from London seem to arrive at 11:20 PM.
M: Right. In that case, I’ll book your pick-up slot for after 11:30 – let’s say 11:45 – that way you’ll have plenty of time to collect your suitcases and get to the arrivals area. And if when you book your ticket you find you’re arriving at a different time, just give me a call back and I’ll update the booking form for you.
W: That sounds fine. Thank you.
M: Oh, that reminds me, the driver will wait for you at the Information Desk.
W: Fine.
M: Great. Can I take your credit card number for payment?
W: Yes, it’s 1433 8527 6497 5810.
M: Great. That’s payment has been accepted. I’d better take you mobile number too in case out driver needs to call you.
W: Sure. It’s 07656 039227.
M: Thanks. So, I think that’s everything! Remember to let me know if your flight arrival time changes, and I’ll email you a receipt for your airport collection now.
W: Great. Thanks for your help. Bye!
