Use the TOEFL reading practice PDF as a timed paper test, one part at a time. The real test gives you 50 questions in about 30 minutes, so allow about 36 seconds per question and 4 minutes per Complete the Words text. Write your answers on paper, check them in the answer key, and then open the online page of every question you got wrong to read the explanation.
Do Part 3 last. In our practice tests an academic passage with its five questions takes about 8 minutes, and the hardest question types, Insert a Sentence, Select in Passage, and Negative Factual Information, are all in that part. Our guide to the TOEFL reading question types shows what each type asks with a sample and an answer.
The TOEFL Reading test is on a computer, and two of the three item types need the screen. In Complete the Words you type letters into the text, and in a Select in Passage question you click a sentence. On paper you can only write the letters and choose a sentence by its position, so after the PDF, practice the same texts online.
