It is true that when it comes to getting a good job, interviews are a critical component in the process.  Whereas some may think they are the most significant part, in my opinion there are other factors that are more important.

For one thing, finding the best jobs and preparing for them is more important than just the interview process.  In today’s competitive job climate, being the most appropriate candidate for the position is much more important than just making a good first impression at the interview stage.  To find good work, job seekers must learn to network well, scour trade journals, and visit online networking websites like Linked In.  If a candidate is suitable and prepared for a position, their hard work will come across in the Interview and put them in a better position to get their dream job title.

For another thing, the interview process for highly -skilled jobs rarely consists of a single one-on-one meeting.  These days, high paying jobs often have second, third, even fourth round interviews, not to mention role-play scenarios to see how candidates perform under job-like conditions.  It’s important for companies to find the most suitable candidate for an opening, as first impressions are not always accurate.  As a result, companies quickly learn to separate the right applicants from the wrong, and simply doing well in an opening interview may not be enough.

In conclusion, I believe that being the best person for the job is more important than focusing strictly on success in the interview.  Only through perseverance and ambitiousness will candidates secure the best jobs nowadays.

Step 1: Planning
First impressions are important.  Some people think that doing well in interviews is the key to securing a good job.To what extent do you agree?

Type: Opinion Essay

  1. What is the topic of the question?
  2. How many questions are there?
  3. How many sides do you need to consider?

The question topic argues that since first impressions are important, interviews are the most important factor in finding a new job.   There is one question but two possible choices:

  1. One-sided: Choose a side and mention your opinion in the introduction and conclusion
  2. Balanced:  Choose both sides and give a specific opinion in the introduction, the side of argument that you least agree with in the first paragraph, and the side you prefer in the subsequent two.  Repeat specific opinion in the conclusion.

Plan:  One-sided Opinion

  1. Analyse the question
  2. Brainstorm a number of main points that you wish to talk about
  3. Choose which points you wish to use, and think of two supporting details for each by continuing to ask “why” questions until you have the answers you need
  4. Decide on the order of your main points before writing

Point against

Rarely one single interview

  • First, second, third, even fourth round interviews + role play
