The debut of a performer or sports player is their first public performance, appearance, or recording. The debut of a product is its first appearance in the market. The phrase "make a debut" is often used.

  • Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting your doctor.

  • If fewer than fifteen students sign up, the course will be discontinued.
  • To increase profitability, a business has no other choice but to discontinue a certain product or an entire product line.
  • FUJIFILM has announced that it will discontinue the sale of some photographic film products due to a long-term decrease in demand.
  • The new product released last year hasn't lived up to our expectations. We are thinking about discontinuing it. 
  • If you still use Fujicolor Pro 160NS 120 or Fujichrome Velvia 50 LF sheet film, stock up now – they've been discontinued.

  • Microsoft will roll out its new operating system on Thursday.
  • Every year they roll a new phone out that is meant to make your current one seem obsolete.

  • Adele, the 15-time Grammy winner, announced that her new album 30 would finally be released on Nov 19th, after months of teasing and speculation. 

Multi-Mobile has just released the latest model of their smartphone series, the X-Man 3500. At the launch, CEO, Mark Strongman, pointed out the rising importance of e-commerce, and therefore, they will be selling their latest model through virtual channels for the first time in the company's history. Moreover, a new campaign is said to be launched starting this week, led by the head of the public relation department, to promote publicity for the new product and build brand loyalty.

 

2. Release = allow something to be shown in public or to be available for use (Verb)

  • Figures released yesterday show that long-term unemployment is still rising.
  • The mayor has released a statement explaining the reasons for his resignation.
  • Tesla has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2022 by posting an update on its Investor Relations website.

  • The film's original release date was in May 2021 but was pushed back for unknown reasons.
  • Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response to delays due to the ongoing pandemic.

A press release = an official statement issued to newspapers giving information on a particular matter.​

  • The company issued a press release announcing the appointment of a new CEO.
  • In a press release, H.J. Heinz Company and Kraft Foods Group, Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement to create The Kraft Heinz Company, forming the third-largest food and beverage company in North America.

A specification is a requirement which is clearly stated, for example about the necessary features in the design of something.
