IELTS Speaking Vocabulary - Clothes

In this video, you are going to learn some great vocabulary you can say about clothes. This video will be very, very helpful if you are taking the IELTS because they often ask you to talk about clothes in the speaking section.

 

Vocabulary to describe types of clothing you like to wear or you often wear

  • Everyday wear or Casual clothes (tank top, polo shirt, shirt/blouse, jeans)
  • Workout clothes, Sportswear (hoodie, sweatshirt, sport pants)
  • Formal clothes (business suit, one-piece suit, vest, camisole)
  • Business casual/semi-formal clothes
  • Used clothes
  • Hand-me-downs
  • Fashionable/trendy clothes, designer labels
  • Timeless clothes
  • Vintage clothes (distressed jeans)

Phrases You can use to talk about fashion:

  • A slave to fashion
  • You look good in + clothing item/ A clothing item + looks good on you
  • To dress for the occasion
  • To have an eye for (fashion)
  • Go out of style
  • It goes well with + clothing item
  • It suits you
  • It matches your eye/skin…
